Thoughts

I am so sorry to hear of mums passing! I am in floods of tears this morning after finding out as I am on maternity leave. I hope you don't mind me emailing you but it didn't feel right not telling you how much Patricia hiscoke meant to me. And I hatw that I wasn't there with her. Your mum made me smile when I didn't think I could, she told me off, she even gave me a slap or 10! But I would not have changed a thing about caring for her, it was an absolute pleasure. I will never forget her face the day of the royal wedding and her smile that filled the room! I have attached a photo of mum I took when she helped me make mince pies in 2019. She really enjoyed that!

Patricia Hiscoke...well as a 50 pence coin there was a lot of sides to Pat, funny, stern, demanding, quiet, and loving. Pat certainly was a character in her home, her love for the queen and her friend "frank" were apparent, she would often tell stories of having tea with her friend the queen, true or not they were definatly entertaining. When Pat was in a bad mood ( and you knew this) a quick swipe on a carers head or a punch to the arm lead to Pat denying it "no such thing happened you bloody fool" stern looks and telling Pat that wasnt nice would only fuel her fire and she would continue to tell you what a disappointment you were, of course not one person took this to hearts five minutes later you would see her bobbing her head and tapping her foor to music which was playing, she would always have a look of peace in her face. Winking competitions were a favourite with Pat, one carer would often ask her to wink and if in a good mood Pat would oblige with a smile to follow a mile wide. Pat would often tell me to shut up whilst calling bingo numbers I believe she hated bingo...or me!! Either way she made me laugh. Pat always enjoyed your visits to Greenacres and I know you felt guilty as the travelling from your home to hers was many miles but I believe she knew she was loved greatly, she will be missed xx
